New crack!

I have found my new crack. In the form of a movie. Which I love and adore. Which I've been watching over and over again, and shall continue to do so going forward. The movie in question is Blind Dating. For one it has Captain Fine (aka Chris Pine, aka Captain James T. Kirk, aka SEXY MAN) starring in it. And two, he's blind. Disability is a huge kink of mine. Yeah I know, that's weird, but what can I say?? Disability in fan fic has always been my absolute favourite. It's the angst that it provides of course. I love it. This movie may replace Love Actually as my favourite film. Possibly. I haven't decided yet!

I really need to get some Chris Pine icons. But for now, we'll all just bask in the Jim/Bones hotness.

ETA:Oh, and this movie totally makes me cry. Which is a guaranteed win in my books!

Here are my thoughts on American Idol this year (I'm currently watching the finale now, but I know who won - stupid facebook):

I loved Adam, I really did. But I'm certainly not surprised that he didn't win. He's amazing. No doubt about it. He can sing many styles, I enjoyed him a lot. However, I can see why people wouldn't vote for him. For one, well there's the whole gay thing. He's probably gay (I saw probably because he hasn't confirmed it, but he hasn't denied it, I'm sure he'll come out publicly when the season is like any time now). A lot of America still has a huge problem with that. Stupid, I know. This contest isn't about your sexuality, it's about your talent. But try telling that to all the homophobic Americans out there. But even Adam's sexuality aside, there's his singing style. He can be scream-y, as in hard rock/metal scream-y and a lot of people wouldn't like that. I don't love the scream-y, but he can do "regular" rock as well, which I do enjoy, very much so!

Now, versus Kris. Who's this nice, white guy from Arkansas. more importantly he's straight. However, he's more of soft rock/pop singer (yes, with a slightly country feel - but he can definitely do mainstream extremely well), which appeals to the masses a lot more. Obviously Kris is talented, I think he's really good too. I didn't have a favourite this year, so I'm not upset by the results. And we all know Adam is definitely going to be signed and will come out with an album and will do really really well. Probably better than Kris.

Anyways, I did enjoy this season and am so glad I got to watch it! Yay ITV2!!! And this finale is really good! So many amazing guest stars!!

The confessions of me: )
marciadanielle: (Kirk/Spock)
So I am totally and addicted to Star Trek. I am well on my way to being completely immersed in a new fandom. Good bye Harry Potter, hello Star Trek. Okay, no. Not really. I can't ever say good bye to Harry Potter. But I can definitely say hello to Star Trek!!

So I've downloaded the movie and have been watching it over and over again! Squee!! I want to see the movie in the theatre again, and will do so once I have a bit more money (ie. after pay day).

I've been reading Star Trek fan fiction and it's making me squee. Even incredibly Mary-Sue fan fic makes me squee. It's quite sad.

What's even sadder is I've started writing my own fan fic, something I've only ever attempted twice before. Harry Potter-verse previously, and both times I never got beyond the first two pages. This one being completed seems a little bit more likely. It's slash of course. Kirk/Spock because what could be better than mind images of Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto together?? Nothing I tell you. Nothing. Writing this has kept me quite occupied at work.

I've gotten myself a few new Star Trek icons and will continue to search for more.

I am utterly in love with Spock and am now downloading a bunch of Original Series (OS) and TNG episodes that are Spock-centric. And The Trouble with Tribbles, because I remember that episode and love it!

I have started watching OS episodes on the Sci-Fi channel (it's perfect, they're on in the morning as I get ready for work). I watch TNG episodes on Virgin, but that's not new, I've watched them before. I tried to watch a Voyager episode too, but it didn't hold my attention. We'll keep it to OS and TNG for now. I might try to catch some Enterprise episodes too.

So yeah, can we say obsessed?? If I start planning trips to Comic-con or a Trekkie convention, please, someone intervene!!

I saw the new Star Trek movie tonight. It was FANTASTIC! It was amazing. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Lots of great action and some very funny lines too. Lots of similarities to the original characters, but the new actors totally made them their own characters. It made me want to watch some of the original series now!

Go see it! You won't be disappointed!!

I need a Star Trek icon now. I may have found a new fandom. I am totally in love with both Spock (for his brain) and Kirk (because Chris Pine is omg hot!!) Ack! I'm in love! <3 <3 <3

Movie time!

I'm currently watching The American President on tv. This movie used to be my all time favourite. It sparked my love of politics, the White House, Andrew Sorkin, Michael Douglas, Annette Benning, a lot of things really. I know all the words by heart. Seriously. Because I used to watch it over and over again! Seriously all the words. It's this and Love Actually that I can say that. Is that sad? Probably. But I don't care!

Man, Sorkin is a genius. I hope he keeps writing!!

So I've finally figured out how to download movies. I know. Took me long enough huh? Oh well, better late than never!! So I downloaded Bride Wars earlier. It was cute, but kind of dumb. So I'm glad I didn't pay for it.

Okay, sidenote: Why is movies being underlined as incorrect??? How does the dictionary not know the word movies??? It's suggestion are monies or moves.

Anyways, so I watched Bride Wars. I enjoyed it though, as a dumb movie. But it won't be on my list of dvds to purchase. Now I'm waiting for P.S. I Love You to finish downloading. I can't go too crazy with downloading though, my internet is limited to 40gb/month. I kind of want to ask my landlord to upgrade to Sky Max because it's unlimited, but we'll see! This isn't going to be as fun in Canada though, because internet speeds aren't as fast there. It's pretty fast here, and that's on mid. Max would be awesome for downloading speeds!

I booked a train ticket for a weekend in Edinburgh!! Yay Scotland! I'm going with Jen C. and [ profile] scattydove. I'm really excited! Jen and I are taking an overnight train (which kind of sucks, but we waited two days to book our tickets and the daytime train went from £24/person to over £100!! Crazy!) but this way we get an extra day there! I want to eat haggis, go to a Scotch Whiskey brewery place tour thing, and other Scottish things...I clearly need to do some research!

I'm also hoping all my holidays get approved at work, I should find out tomorrow. I need to book a flight home too. And then try to change my return flight to September. Air Canada is pretty reasonable right now. Under $600, and I would really love to get it for that price. So as soon as I find out about my holidays, I think I'm just going to buy it. I just need to decide what flight times I want. Mainly for the return flight. Anyways, hopefully it will all work out!! If it does, then I'm going to Spain in two weeks, then Edinburgh two weeks after that, then Montpellier three weeks after that, then Toronto immediately after that!! And then I won't have any vacation time until the summer, but that's okay! I'll have to plan Wimbledon for a day off, or just take the one day off, but that should be doable too. It's an exciting next few months!!

It's been pouring rain outside all day. Which sucks. But I've made myself feel better by buying an expensive theatre ticket for next May, and then by seeing a movie. Yeah, while I should be working on finding a flat, I go see a movie instead.

But first, omg so much love for my theatre ticket!! Sadly, it's not until May 1st. BUT, it's for a production of Waiting for Godot starring Ian McKellen AND Patrick Stewart!! Squee!!! I am so excited for it! How amazing will it be? No words will be able to describe it. And I have a pretty good seat. In the stalls, row G but on one side. The ticket guy said I would be able to see find though. And I'll have tons of leg room, and no one will be sitting directly in front of me, so that's good. Now I just have to wait until May 1st though!!

I then saw Ghost Town which I've been dying to see, and it did not disappoint. It was very funny and had some romance in it as well.

I keep applying for a zillion jobs, but so far I've heard nothing. Very frustrating, but what's more frustrating is I have no home. I need to unpack my bags and have a regular bed and wifi. Argh. I paid for early bird service to so maybe (hopefully) I'll find something there. I should really be calling people right now.

On the plus side though, I have (almost) free internet. I'm in an internet cafe, and you have to buy a code ticket from a machine, so I start putting in my coins, I'm buying an hour and a half of time (so £3 worth) I'm feeding it tons of coins to use up my small change. It prints me out my ticket, and then out pops £2 from the return coin dispenser. So score!

Alright, that's about it. I'm going to be serious about flat hunting and go call some people.

I paid a fortune and saw James Bond today at the Odeon is Leicester Square. Suffice to say, it was AMAZING!! As I knew it would be. I loved all the action!! I was on the edge of my seat for almost the entire film!! Definitely worth $30!! was £14.50 for my seat. But it was a huge theatre (it's where they do all the premieres) and I had a pretty good seat. On the balcony, in the centre. No Daniel Craig in little swim trunks, but he was still dead sexy!!

And, it doesn't come out in Canad and the US for another two weeks (on Nov 14th) so it also felt good that I was seeing it before anyone else I know! I never see things first, so this was my chance!

Now I want to see it again!! Hopfully it will be out on dvd by the time I'm home for a visit in April, so I can buy it and then watch it on my laptop!

Movie fun!

This weekend has been a lot of fun!

First off, I saw Sex and the City movie on Saturday afternoon. Amanda had a party and a bunch of us (9 girls seeing the movie, 10 for the party part!) went to see the movie and then we all went back to her place for some drinking and eating and gabbing. It was quite fun! We drank cosmos and then ate appetizers. And talked about how fabulous the movie was!!! I won't give anything away or spoil anyone who hasn't seen it yet, but OMG. It was AMAZING!!! I laughed, I cried, and I smiled the entire way through!! I had really high expectations for this movie and it exceeded them which made me ecstatic. I can't wait to see it again!!!

Today I went and saw The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. Now, since I haven't read the book (I know, I should, one day...I swear!) I didn't know what was going to happen, or the story (although it's pretty self explanatory from the trailer: the four Pevensie are called back to Narnia to help save it from evil once again.) This movie didn't get the most favourable reviews either, some were good, but some were pretty bad, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Except, I loved loved loved the first one and was very excited for the second, and most of the time I don't agree with movie reviews, so I was pretty sure I would love it. And love it I did. I was on the edge of my seat for most of it and I was so enthralled! I want to go to Narnia!!

Yay movies!! I love movies. And the summer is great because so many good movies are coming out!! And I found out if you go to an AMC theatre on Saturday or Sunday morning before noon, it's only $6 to get it! (Versus $12 any other time.) So I saw Narnia at 10:30am this morning. And it's great too because it wasn't crowded. So, I think I may see more movies in the morning on a weekend.

On my way home from the movie, I went to Best Buy and bought myself a new mp3 player. I had been thinking of getting one for quite some time now, and while I wanted to get an ipod, I didn't want to spend the money (because really I wanted the 80 gb classic, but it's $240). So I got a Sony Walkman 4gb mp3 player instead for $99. I figure it's more space than the 512 mb ipod shuffle I have now, and this has a screen so I can see what I'm listening to and search for songs, and it has a built-in radio (which the ipod is lacking - and then if you want radio, you have to buy (ie spend even mroe money) and buy the accessory). And it has a higher battery life. 33 hours of play or so it claims. Anyways, so I'm pleased with it. And I got it in black, so yay!

Tomrrow morning is Jeremy's brit milah. I hope he doesn't scream and that the infant tylenol really does knock him out. I have to "present" him and carry him down the stairs, then pass him to his other godmother (I'm going to be one, and Christine, my sister's sister-in-law is the other) who will pass him to Ryan's brother who is the godfather. Then porr Jeremy gets diced and sliced, and then we all eat breakfast!! I have to wake up crazy early tomorrow 4:30am!!! Insane I tell you!! I better be able to nap in the afternoon before I have to go to work!

Oh, and I have to say, I LOVE this song. So good!!

I hope everyone is doing well!
