2nd last post! The end is near. I can TASTE it!

I forgot to post this morning. And since there's all of TWO days left (!!!) of this constant posting, I can't forget! I'm at work right now. And even on the computer in the internet "lounge" livejournal is blocked. Which is crap. But I can get into dreamwidth. Actually I can get into dreamwidth on the floor, but I forgot my password and had to get it emailed to me, and for that I needed the public computer.

Anyhoo! POST! I'll write more tomorrow!! I hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Last day of training!!

It's the last day of training class! Woot! Thank goodness. Though I will miss all the game playing and not doing any real work. Next week I'm on the phones. Providing tech support for people with internet issues. Heh. Yeah, I'm totally serious. What do I know about the internet you ask? Not much, but I suppose I'll learn. Or ask all the tech guys (who have had formal training in this) around me. Or something.

I reapplied to Air Miles yesterday and today I left a voicemail for one of the managers there. We'll see if I hear anything. I think I will persue this though. It pays more for one. And I'll be more comfortable there. Here I don't know what I'm doing, which is going to lead to a lot of nervousness and stress.

I did get my first paycheque from Minacs. A whopping $395. It was only for one week of work. But it won't be that much more when it's two weeks. For one, there was no tax taken off (because I didn't earn enough money) but tax will come off next time. So I won't even get double. I saw some other guy's paycheque, and he made $713. Oy.

So tonight I'm taking my parents out for dinner. Since I got paid. And they always take me out, so it's time to repay the favour! We're going to Cagneys in Streetsville, we like the caesar salad and ribs there. Yum!

Happy weekend everyone!!

Eeeeek...

So, I called Tim's this morning and left a message. He called me back (the hr guy, not someone named Tim) this afternoon. When I was at work. And was leaving in ten minutes, so I didn't have time to call him back. So he said he'd call back on Monday. As per my dad's text messages anyways. So now this is going to be a very long weekend of waiting. And waiting and waiting. I hope it's good news. I really really really hope it's good news.

While this weekend may be long, it will be fun! I'm planning on a lot of drinking. Did I mention this yesterday?? I can't remember. And I'm in dreamwidth again, not lj, so I can't check. But tonight is dominos with my famiy and the Citrens (family friends) which will have lots of wine. Tomorrow is drinking with Erin and Phil! Whee!! And Sunday is drinking with Amanda at the Santa Claus Parade. Whee!! Okay, this all feels familiar, so I think I have talked about it. Suffice it to say, I'm excited!

Happy Friday and happy weekend everyone!!!

(no subject)

I have literally sat here doing NOTHING (except playing games - I am officially sick of Bloons) for the past hour and a half. While I do appreciate getting paid to do nothing, I am BORED. And this is POINTLESS. Send us home (paid of course!) if we're not going to do anything.

Also, I can access Dreamwidth, but not Livejournal (it's blocked, along with many other sites). I find it weird that Dreamwidth isn't blocked, but maybe it's too new??

And final point, I'm not going to get the highest mark in this class. I can tell. Not that I'm not smart (and lots of others are dumb), but I've messed up on our first quiz and didn't get 100%, and I know a bunch of other people did, since they all cheat and tell each other the answers. Which bothers me. Do your own fucking work!!

And I shall log out for now...hope everyone is well!

New crack!

I have found my new crack. In the form of a movie. Which I love and adore. Which I've been watching over and over again, and shall continue to do so going forward. The movie in question is Blind Dating. For one it has Captain Fine (aka Chris Pine, aka Captain James T. Kirk, aka SEXY MAN) starring in it. And two, he's blind. Disability is a huge kink of mine. Yeah I know, that's weird, but what can I say?? Disability in fan fic has always been my absolute favourite. It's the angst that it provides of course. I love it. This movie may replace Love Actually as my favourite film. Possibly. I haven't decided yet!

I really need to get some Chris Pine icons. But for now, we'll all just bask in the Jim/Bones hotness.

ETA:Oh, and this movie totally makes me cry. Which is a guaranteed win in my books!

Updating!

Woooooo!!! So You Think You Can Dance Canada has started again! It actually started a while ago (maybe a week or two?) but it's still the city audtions, so I haven't missed a ton. Stupid Leah Miller is still the host. Ugh. But the amazing dancing makes up for her.

So my last day in London was good. I never did make it to Madame Tussauds, but that's okay. I did see Jersey Boys at night which was AWESOME. I am now officially obsessed with it! I listen to the soundtrack all the time. I only wish the London cast would come out with their own version, they're so much better than the Broadway cast!

I finished all my packing in time and Morgan was super nice and helped me to the airport. I never would have made it without her. My flight home was fine. I drank some, watched Star Trek, tried to sleep, listened to some music. My parents met me at the airport and we went home where my siser, Ryan, and Jeremy were waiting and we ate dinner (Jeremy, the cute bugger) went to bed. The past few days I've been seeing my family and friends. It been awesome! Amanda had her Jack and Jill and I got nice and drunk which was fun! Not to mention seeing her again of course! I saw Erin tonight (we got sushi, yum!) which was also fun. And I got to see her new house and puppies (which are adorable - they're labradoodles and only 3 months old). Tomorrow involves some cleaning, some packing, and some more laundry. And then Thursday I leave for Hilton Head!! Woo! I'm supposed to be seeing Rachel Thursday night in Baltimore. We'll see if she cancels on me. Hopefully not! And then it's two weeks in Hilton Head, the ocean, sun, and sand! Yay!

So I've noticed a lack of new fic lately. Well, there's been fic. But nothing that's grabbed my attention. So if anyone wants to rec me some Kirk/Bones (or I'd take Kirk/Spock or Bones/Spock too, or the three of them together!) that would be great!!

Hope everyone's well!!

Omg, I'm leaving England for GOOD. So sad. :(

Eeek! Only one more full day left in London. How sad!!! In two days I'll be on a plane heading home. However, I will be watching Star Trek (as it's playing this month on Air Canada - wooo!!) to console myself. Right now I'm procrastinating about packing. Bad, I know. I have a feeling it's going to be an all-nighter tomorrow night!! Oh well. I can sleep when I'm dead, right??

The past few days have been really good. On Monday I went and met Emma for lunch near work, because it's convenient. We went to Nandos, yay unlimited drinks!! Then I made her take me to Madame Tussauds so I could pick up some boxes in case I needed them to ship things (which I don't think I do, so I lugged them around for nothing, but oh well) where I saw a few people. Then the annoying manager came and ruined it. but it provided us some good gossip! Then we went to Leicester Square to see about a theatre ticket for me. I had gotten a good email offer from Avenue Q, a top-priced ticket and free program for £25 and the seats offered for Jersey Boys that evening (by the time I got there) weren't great, so I went to see Avenue Q one last time. It was awesome as usual! It was my 8th time I believe. And I still love it! Yesterday I went and met Jen for lunch. I bought one last set of books (3 for 2) at Waterstones, found a feather hair piece thing for Amanda's wedding (yay!) and then we had burritos for lunch. Yum! I then convinced Jen to come with me to the Natural History Museum, but the queues are huge, so we went to the Science Museum instead. It was fun! Then I went and saw her flat and then went home. Today I met Joanna and Dan one last time and we went out for lunch in Golders Green (the Jewish area of London). We went to Blooms which is this Jewish deli that has been there forever. It was okay. It wasn't bad, but it was expensive and it wasn't the best I ever had. I told them they need to come visit me in Toronto and I'd take them to Centre Street Deli for some delicious food! It was great seeing them one last time. Then I went to Leicester Square to pick up my theatre ticket for tomorrow night. I'm seeing Jersey Boys again. I know, I should see something I haven't seen before. But I loved it so much, and this time I get to see Ryan Molloy!! Then I went to this theatre shop and bought Ryan Molloy's cd which just came out on Monday. It's him singing Frankie Valli songs. I'm listening to it now, it's great! Tonight I'm meeting up with work people one last time. One last trip to the Met Bar. :(

Tomorrow I'm going to Madame Tussauds so I can see Emma in costume, hopefully I can see a couple of people to say goodbye too. Then I have to PACK. Then Jersey Boys at night! Then one last Hagen Daas ice cream and seeing Piccadilly Circus and then I assume I'll be packing all night. Then Friday I leave. :( Yikes! But then I'll get to see my family and friends (who thankfully have not forgotten me! I've already made plans!) so I guess it's good. I sure am going to miss it here though. And who knows when I'm going to get to come back. Hopefully sooner rather than later. At least I'll have free places to stay when I come back now! Lol!

Also, friending memes are the new greatest thing ever. Especially if they're Kirk/McCoy ones. Because let's face it, they're totally my new otp and I pretty much read only them. I need new icons. I digress. *waves* Welcome new friends!! I should make this journal more fandom-y. I think we need to plan first a Kirk/McCoy meet up, and then a Star Trek con in the vibe of Prophecy. Yes?? No?? My vote is yes!

I'm back yet again!

I'm back from Greece! Actually I have been since Friday night and have done nothing the past two days. Which is not good. I should be doing stuff not just sitting on my ass watching Beverly Hills 90210 re-runs. On the plus side, I dyed my hair today! Woo! I got rid of the grey!

Greece was very lovely. Hot. But they believe in air conditioning there, so I was pleasantly cool while indoors in both Mykonos and Athens. And I got a very nice tan! I liked Athens more than Mykonos. Mainly because there wasn't much to do in Mykonos and I was all by my lonesome and didn't really have an opportunity to meet anyone. I wandered through the town my first day and made my way to a beach the second day. It was all very beautiful and picture-esque, one day I will post the pics on facebook. Maybe while I'm in Hilton Head. Athens was good though. I don't think I need to go back there though. I didn't fall in love. The hostel was good though, nice and modern, and clean. And I met some nice people there. Athens reminded me of Rome and Spain. Rome because it was fairly dirty with graffiti EVERYWHERE. And of course the ancient ruins on every corner. The buildings and architecture reminded me of Spain. I saw all the sights, some of when are breathtaking, especially taking in consideration they are 4000 years old. The food was good, but not nearly as good as I thought it would be. However, I did definitely eat my fill of feta cheese and gyros. The pita bread there was amazing. Best pita bread I've ever had! However, I like the gyros from Souvlaki Hut more! So methinks I need a trip there when I get home! Care for some lunch Faye??? I did manage to buy a couple of souvenirs for myself too. A pair of leather sandals and some earrings. Oh and I had Mythos beer (it was quite good actually!) and some ouzo! All in all a good trip, but I still like Germany the best! Oh, probably also because I found Greek people (well, the city people anyways, the people in Mykonos were friendly) to be very pushy and they don't queue which is a big pet peeve of mine. However, I'm definitely glad I went and got to Greece! And I'm super tan, so yay!!

I now have four days left. Yikes! Still so much to do! I don't think I'll make it to Thorpe Park which makes me sad. Nor the London Dungeons. I had wanted to go to some museums too, so I'll try to fit some of them in. I want to see two more shows too. I just need to decide what shows. I think Billy Elliot, and then something else. I still need to see work friends one last time too. Why oh why did I do nothing the past two days?? Why must I procrastinate so darn much?!?!? Ah well, some things will never change!

I hope everyone's well!

Update!

So I went to my eye exam this morning. It turns out there's no problems with my eyes. No health problems anyways. The bluriness was not all in my head though (though I never though I was imagining blurred vision) and it turns out my prescription has gotten worse. Le sigh. Well, my prescription has stayed roughly the same (it has actually gotten half a degree better) but my astigmatism has gotten noticeably worse. Hence the blurred vision. You know, I never had astigmatism growing up, it's only in the past three years that I developed it. It's annoying, because it means I have to buy new glasses. So I've bought new glasses. And then since they were cheap, I also got prescription sunglasses. I figured they would be good for driving and for the beach. So I spent an extra £230 today that I really wasn't planning to spend. But perhaps I'll be able to see a bit better now.

In other news, I am now officially a tourist in London again. After my eye appointment and subsequent glasses purchase, I went to Leicester Square and bought myself a ticket for Jersey Boys tonight!! Woooo! I've wanted to see it for quite some time, so it should be good. Then I went to the National Gallery and looked around. Saw some nice paintings. I bought myself this bag that I've seen a ton of people carrying about. I also got a calendar for 2010 and one postcard. Then I went tanning and now I'm back at my flat for a bit before I head out again. My glasses aren't supposed to be ready until half 7, but that's when Jersey Boys starts. So I'm going to go there for 7-ish and see if they're done. If they're not, then I'll have to go get them on Sunday.

Tomorrow I'm off to Stonehenge and then Bath! Should be fun!

I'm baaaaack!

I had much fun in Vienna and Munich and Zurich. Mucho fun!! Not surprisingly (since I loved Berlin when I was there too) I fell in love with Munich and wish I had gotten to spend more time there. I still love Zurich. Vienna was good, but not as good as I had thought it would be. It wasn't as pretty or as lovely as I would have thought. But I did still enjoy my time there. Here's a description of what I did as told to Amanda via email:

It's pretty long, so I shall cut you )

And now I'm back. 3 countries in 4 days is like a Contiki trip and it's too much. Too hectic, too exhausting. Obviously it was fun and I had a wonderful time, but I don't think I would do a trip like that again. But I'll be able to rest on the beach in Greece! I leave on Sunday!!! Wooohoooo!!!!! Greece Greece Greece!

However, before that I have three more days in London. Tomorrow I'm going for an eye exam. My right eye has been blurry for quite some time now, and I feel like something is wrong. Not iritis because it's not red nor sensitive to the light, but perhaps my optic nerve is inflammed again? Who knows. It could be all in my head (although the blurriness is not in my head....). It's been over two years since I last went to the eye doctors anyways, so it's time for a check up and see what my prescription is. Also, I feel glasses are cheaper in the UK (than they are in Canada) so maybe I can get some new ones while I'm here. And I have a 50% off voucher for the eye exam, so it won't be too expensive. Anyways, then I'm going to see if I can get tickets to a show tomorrow night. Either Jersey Boys or Billy Elliot or Calendar Girls. I want to see Wicked too, but it's expensive and not at the half priced booth, so I might try and find cheaper tickets through the theatre. I shall go research that next. Then on Saturday I'm going on a day trip to Stonehenge and Bath. I've always wanted to see Stonehenge and never have, and Bunac was doing a daytrip there for only £23 and that includes admission and the coach trip. I'm going to meet Andy and Teresa in Bath for lunch and a drink, so it will be good to see them one more time before I head home. I only have two more weeks in London. So sad!!! I can't believe my time here is coming to an end. Then I have to go home and look for a job. Ugh. But first, Hilton Head!! Oh yeah, and Greece!!!!!

Hope you're all well!

Fun times to be had by all!

I had the best time these past few days! So I need to write about it.

First was dinner on Thursday. There was a last minute get-together with myself, Joanna, and Dan. We went out for dinner to Pizza Express by my work. We got to use two vouchers, so it was really reasonable, and we even got dessert! Mmmm, tons of food. But the company and coversations were even better. I love getting together with them, I always have a good time. We planned our trip too!! Which, yay! Even better! They're going to a few countries for about 9-10 days, but I'm going to meet them halfway. I'm going July 25-29 and spending two nights in Vienna, and then two nights in Switzerland (one night in Zurich, and then one night somewhere in the Swiss countryside). I'm excited!! I can eat strudel, fondue, raclette and tons of yummy chocolate!

Friday night I went out with Emma and we went to Mercedes' (a girl from work) gig at a pub nearby. She was really good! It was quite enjoyable until the next band went on. They were called Girls Girls Girls (yes, seriously) and they were HORRID. OMG TERRIBLE. But almost so horrible that they were funny. So it was kind of amusing. And it was a lot of fun to make fun of them during and after! Emma and I got a kebab for dinner before the gig and it was delicious!! Oh, and I discovered a new beer I liked. A wheat beer from Munich called Paulaner. It's delicious! And I just checked, some LCBOs at home carry it, so I will be able to get it! And introduce it to my Dad.

Today I went to Alton Towers for the day with [livejournal.com profile] scattydove, her sister Jacqui, and her brother-in-law Simon. It was AMAZING. I had so much fun!! I love going on rides and roller coasters. I love screaming. And I love the atmosphere of amusement parks. It's so carefree and lively. It was quite busy, but we still got to go on quite a few rides. And the company was so much fun. I always have fun with [livejournal.com profile] scattydove and her family is lovely. They were so nice and we all got along very well! And they're very funny, Simon especially. I pretty much laughed all day. Even at the end when we couldn't find the car and spent an hour looking for it (seriously). I ended up missing my train and had to buy another ticket which was VERY expensive. £53 expensive. Not impressed with stupid fares like that! Especially since the train was empty! It made me quite mad. Not at anyone specific (well, maybe Virgin) since it was no one's fault, but mad all the same. Oh well. Shit happens. I'll survive, I'll just be poor for the next two weeks! No more going out for me! My mom told me I should have just gotten on the next train without buying a new ticket and tried to use my other one and see what would have happened, and then played dumb. I did think of that. And I do have my Canadian accent to help me seem like a dumb tourist. But I don't have the confidence to pull that off. I would have been terrified of being chucked off the train or a humoungous fine. Ah well.

And that was my fun times. Oh, and I got to see my nephew on Skype this evening while chatting to my parents. He's so adorable. And he kept waving at me. SO cute!!! I can't wait to see him in person again.

Canada Day!

I felt this deserved it's own post. Mainly not to tarnish my tennis rants with some drunken fun.

Canada Day was AWESOME (despite not having Amanda Marshall, lol! But there was a cover of one of her songs - that's what started this all!). I met Jen and her friend Megan in Trafalgar Square around 3pm, got some beer and proceeded to get very very drunk. Like very drunk. Like swaying on the spot, slurring my words, making a COMPLETE ASS out of myself and befriending anyone and anything. It was awesome. We drank in Trafalgar Square and then went to the Maple Leaf and got even more drunk. I drank a ton of beer (all Canadian thank you!) and a shot of tequila at one point. I passed out as soon as I got home so there was no drunken post, but let me amuse you with some drunken texts that I sent:

The first one I sent to Amanda at 6:37pm:

"Enlay i'm so drunk. l.ke really really drunk. Happy birthdaym canada. But do't worry i'm with friends wim are vauling card of me. I love you. And miss you."

Sent to Amanda at 6:43pm after she replied to my first text:

"I wish yet were here! I love you!!! You should be per. Me're going to get this drunk during your laka And jill. I love you."

Then a more coherent one sent to Catherine (which I won't post, because it makes sense and therefore not funny), but then I sent this one after she replied to me (at 7:12pm):

"I'm having tons of me fun. Tons. It's the best. But i want a burger.bushes. Mmmm burger . Soon my friend jen says. You met jen. In scotland."

That was the end of the drunk texting. Sad I know. They make me laugh. It was a fun fun fun day. The best Canada Day I've ever had.

Now to watch the tennis!! Wooooooo!!! Okay, first I have to go to Tesco's, and then I'll be sat in front of the tv all afternoon! Yay!

Tennis ranting and love

I'm a bit disgusted with the Canadian media at the moment. They do not give recognition where recognition is due. It's annoying, and sad. Daniel Nestor (with his partner Nenad Zimonjic) won the Men's Doubles at Wimbledon this year. They won last year too. I only got to see some of the match (stupid work) but what I saw was good! I saw more of their semi-final match, where they fought back from being down two sets to love and went on to win the match in five sets. Amazing! Daniel Nestor is Canadian (he grew up in Toronto). He's been the world number one (in doubles), he's currently number two (although, maybe he'll be no.1 again on Monday?? I'll have to check), he's won all the Slams, and yet TSN (Canada's sports channel) doesn't even bother showing the match. The papers barely make mention of him. And while there are some articles today, it took winning Wimbledon for them to mention him. He's Canada's greatest tennis player ffs!!! Give him more credit! Are we so enamoured with love for the Americans that we forget about our own???

Anyways, moving on...today is the Men's final at Wimbledon!!! Federer vs. Roddick. This will be the third time Roddick has faced Federer in the final at Wimbledon. The previous times being in 2004 and 2005, both of which Federer won. Federer is 18-2 against Roddick. So I'm not too worried. Although Roddick has been amazing these past two weeks. So I hope Federer isn't feeling too cocky or confidant, but I doubt he is. He's too much of a gentleman to be cocky. I'm sure he's preparing to just play his best. Which will (knock on wood) win him his 6th Wimbledon final, and 15th Grand Slam, making him the absolute best ever in Men's tennis. Even my mother (who is one of those enamoured for the Americans - she's a wannabee) roots for Roger. And she likes Roddick. But she loves Roger more. The fact that's he's completely fluent in English and speaks with only the slightest accent helps (for her). Yeah, she's prejudiced. But she's my mother and I love her. Anyways, I will of course be rooting for Roger today. I have wine chilling in the fridge, and I'm going to go to Tesco's soon to pick up some snacks. And possibly a donut. Because even though it's not Tims, it's tradition, and I can't break with tradition!!

It's funny, but when Nadal dropped out of Wimbledon I thought there would be a huge gap missing these past two weeks. And while I've missed watching him for sure, I haven't felt like I've missed out. If that makes sense. There's been some amazing tennis these past two weeks. Wimbledon has always been my favourite of the Grand Slams, and it's been just as great as ever.

In other news I've spent the morning downloading music. The website I normally download from is letting people download all of Michael Jackson's music for free as a tribute. Which is amazing on two parts. Because one, awww, that's sweet. And two, free music!! Lots of free music! So I downloaded it all. Then I wanted some more Canadian content on my mp3 player so (the original reason for me going to the download site to begin with) I downloaded some Amanda Marshall and Stabilo (I own the cds, but they're in Canada and I want to listen to them now!) The site actually didn't have anything by Stabilo (though I would have been surprised if they did) and very little by Amanda Marshall, so I found some torrents. Amanda Marshall is funny to listen to these days. Because her music sounds very 90s (mainly because it is) and not like the music you hear today. It sounds very pop. I still enjoy it though. Stabilo has held up better imo. I still love them. I wish both of them would come with new material. I want more!! Aw man, I just found out that Amanda Marshall performed in Brampton on Canada Day! I so would have gone to that, despite it being Brampton, lol!

I'M GOING TO GREECE!!!

Just as the title states, I am going to Greece!!! I'm so excited! I hope Greece is as wonderful and magical as has been built up in my head. Lol! I'm sure it will though. I'm going August 2-7 (though I won't arrived in Athens until 4am on August 3rd). I'm taking a 7:30am ferry to Mykonos, spending two nights there, lying in the sun on the beautiful beaches! And then on the 5th I'm taking a midday ferry back to Athens and spending two nights there. Then I'm coming back to London on the evening of the 7th. Yes, it's a short trip, but I can't really afford more (I have the time, I do not have the money!) and these four nights (five days!) are already costing me an arm and a leg. Mykonos is one of the most expensive of the Greek islands, but I knew that going in. There's no hostels on the island, and while I could stay in a guest house which would cost at least 100 euros/night, none of the ones coming up get great reviews on trip advisor. Not to mention, that's still really expensive. So I started emailing a bunch of hotels that do get good reviews, and the number one rated hotel (called Hotel Tagoo) emailed me back and said they have a tiny single room (with no view, they boast having great sea views from their place - it's on a hill - which yes, will mean some uphill walking, but meh, it's good exercise!) for 90 euros/night, and it includes breakfast! Done. I emailed the lady back and said I wanted it, she then emailed and said there was a cancellation and they now have a proper single room available with a double bed and a private balcony (with those amazing views) for 140 euros/night. But I was strong and resisted and have just emailed back saying no thanks, the broom closet will be fine for me (don't worry, I didn't actually call it a broom closet). They say all their rooms have ensuites though, so even if it's tiny, meh. I'm only there two nights and it's only me staying in the room. As long as it's clean (which is another thing they boast about - and the reviews all say it's clean) it's fine. And they'll pick me up and drop me off from the port (although all the places I've read about offer that). I'm excited!! Greek Islands! Beach!! Sun! Yummy food!! And they have a rooftop pool!

And then I'm spending the two nights in Athens in a hostel. I could have stayed in a hotel. There's a Best Western that's only 55 euros/night. But it's kind of far from all the touristy sights (you can't walk, I'd have to take the tram/subway/bus). The hostel I'm staying at gets great reviews on hostelworld.com and it's only a two minute walk from the Acropolis and the Plaka. And they have free wifi. And so does the hotel, so I'm thinking of bringing my laptop. Oh, the hostel is the Athens Backpackers, in case anyone wants to know. And the hostel is only 57 euros for two nights, in a four bed room with single beds. I think it's air conditioned too. I'm going to Greece!! How exciting!

I just booked the ferry from Athens to Mykonos. It cost 94 euros. The flight cost me £150. Yeah, this is going to be expensive. But sooooo worth it! Oh, and the flight is good because I'm going on Olympic Airlines, which is sched air, which means it's a real airline (not a charter or budget) which means I get free checked baggage (which means I can just bring my regular suitcase, and not have to cram everything into a carry on bag), possibly free food, and it leaves from Heathrow which is cheap and easy to get to. So yay!

Can you tell I'm excited?!?!?! Greece!!!

In other news, I'm going to Alton Towers in two weeks! Well, a week and a half. I'm excited! Amusement parks! Woo! Rollercoasters! And the train ticket was only £21, which is pretty reasonable to me!

Next I just have to plan a day to Thorpe Park. And then to Cambridge. And then York. And then Stonehenge. (Although, some of these can be planned for when I'm done work!) And then I'll be set in everything I wanted to do before I leave the UK.

Annoying

So apparently I was supposed to email my aunt to say sorry Michael Jackson died, guess we really won't be going to see him. Thanks for wanting to take me with.

WTF?? Seriously?? Why do I need to email you that?? First of all, I had already thanked you a gazillion times for offering to buy me a ticket. Second of all, I already knew, and had communicated to you that we probably weren't going to an MJ concert (due to the first four shows being postponed to March 2010, and we had tickets to show number four), so I had already resigned myself to not going. And like hello??? Why do I need to tell you sorry??? He's not a relative. He's not your bff. He's not your son, brother, father, or even a distant cousin. HE WAS A POPSTAR. Get over it, and just remember Michael Jackson for the wonderful music he created.

(And that rant is for my aunt, but also for all the crazies out there. I have to work with a bunch of them. One guy called in sick to work on Friday because he claimed there was a death in the family. Then on Saturday he came in, saw the memorial thing Madame Tussauds came up with and started crying. COME ON PEOPLE!! GET A LIFE!!!)

(And yes, I was shocked and saddened by the news. But death happens. And it's not like I knew Michael Jackson. And I'll still like his music. That hasn't died with him.)

Wimbledon!!!

The past few days have been uber exciting! Well not today or yesterday (I was at work those days, and that's not ever exciting - although I handed in my notice today, so that's kind of exciting! One month left!) But Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday were AMAZING!!

Yep, I was at Wimbledon!!! It's literally a dream come true. And it totally lived up to the hype. I had such a fantastic time! Sunday midday I met [livejournal.com profile] scattydove at Victoria and we made our way to Wimbledon Park to camp overnight so we could get Centre Court tickets for Monday (the first day of Wimbledon). We got there, got our queue cards pretty quickly and were delighted to find out we were numbers 337 and 338. They sell 500 Centre Court tickets per day, so we were guaranteed to get them with those numbers! Yay! One hurdle down!! So exciting. It turned a bit sour after that, Catherine got quite ill and spent the evening trying to sleep it off in the tent, so I spent the time reading, trying to nap, listening to music. It was kind of boring, but it was alright. I never did get takeaway delivered to the tent, but they weren't allowed to deliver to the tent anyways (you had to go pick it up from the park entrance) so I didn't miss much. I had a burger instead (and I LOVE burgers). The next morning we woke up after a restless sleep (sleeping on the floor in a small tent with loud drunken people all around is NOT my idea of a good time (although getting to see Federer in the flesh was worth it!!) and packed up. Catherine, unfortunately, got ill again which sucks for her because she wasn't feeling well enough to watch the tennis, and left to go back to my flat and sleep. Luckily this was before we bought our tickets, so at least she didn't lose any money! So I went off myself to Centre Court. And what a day! It was AMAZING. I LOVED it. I had a FANTASTIC seat. 5th row, center. Right behind where Federer sat. Unfortunately I wasn't ever shown on tv (my parents watched the whole day to see if they could find me - they couldn't) but meh, who cares! I could see the players, I could see the tennis ball. I got some great pictures (which eventually I shall post to fb). It was awesome. At times I felt like I had to pinch myself it seemed like a dream. I was sitting in Centre Court. At Wimbledon. Watching Roger Federer (and Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic). Holy cow!! Loved it. Loved it. Loved it! I had spent a lot of time in the gift shops and spent a ton of money on souvenirs. Oops! But so worth it! I got tons of fun stuff, including a Championship towel! The same kind the players get! I'm going to hang it on my wall!

Then Tuesday morning we woke up early (Catherine was feeling much better thank goodness! She still got to see some tennis and it wasn't a complete waste of a trip!) and queued for ground tickets. We got there around half 8 and was inside around half 12. I got to go see the end of Daniel Nestor's first round Doubles match (he's Canadian and the defending Men's Doubles champion). His match was cut short when the other team retired, but I did get to see their dominance for a bit! Man, they're good!! And I met them afterwards and got a picture!! Catherine and I flitted between a number of courts, I saw another Canadian play (she lost) I saw some of Marat Safin's match (thanks to Catherine for letting me into her spot so I could see! It was CROWDED!), I saw Murray on Henman Hill. I drank champagne and got a bit drunk!! Whee! I ate strawberries and cream. It was another fantastic day. I absolutely LOVED getting to go to Wimbledon. And I think I might go again on Saturday if it doesn't rain. I had a great time both days. I was crazy exhausted by the end though. But it was so so so worth it. I wish I could go every year!! Oh! And I got tons of colour and am no longer pasty pale! So woooo for that too!

So much for going to bed early...

So I've decided I love both the Royal Mail and Canada Post. They are so so so quick! Snail mail forever! Lol! I sent a package to my Dad for Fathers Day, I sent it Monday and it already got there today. Which is only 4 days later. I swear it takes just as long to send a package within Canada as it does to send one overseas. So maybe it's just Royal Mail that I love?? But it's thanks to Canada Post too, because they have to receive it and then process it and then deliver it. Remember the days (of Yore) when it took two-three weeks to send something (like a Christmas card for example) overseas. Now it takes just a few days. Amazing.

I should also update. Thanks for those that asked about my grandmother. While she's not super dandy, she's not seriously ill and really it was just the way my mother sent the email that made me panic. And not to mention the fact that my mother never bothered emailing me back to let me know everything is okay. So no emergency flights back to Canada. Which means....

(almost) TWO MORE DAYS UNTIL WIMBLEDON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I cannot wait!! I went and got a camping mat last night!!

Holy crap. Life in Canada seems to be falling apart at the seams. Okay, well that's an exaggeration, but tons of shit seems to be happening. My sister's house got broken into and a whole ton of shit got stolen (including her laptop - that's all I know for sure), I'm awaiting more details.

And then I get an email from my mother saying my grandmother has been taken to the emergency room and has provided no further details. Which means I have no idea how serious this is. Will I have to fly home in a hurry??? She fell recently, did she just fall again and say broke her foot or something (which isn;t nearly as serious). I hate not knowing any details.

Hopefully it's nothing too serious. I seriously cannot afford a last minute plane ticket home (and I don't mean to sound selfish or anything or uncaring at all, but I seriously do not have the money for that - although, truly if it was an emergency I'd find a way and more than likely my dad would pay for the ticket). And to sound selfish, Wimbledon is this weekend and it's been a dream of mine forever to attend and I really don't want to miss it. Although, of course I would if my grandmother needs me, or god forbid something even worse than that.

So I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.
